How to Download and Install Avast! Free Antivirus

How you can download and set up the Avast antivirus application in your Windows or Mac computer, in addition to on a Android smartphone or tablet computer. Avast isn't yet readily available for your own iPhone or even iPad. Remember the Avast is free for 30 days, after which time you'll be motivated to purchase a subscription.


  1. Open Avast's site. Visit https://www.avast.com/en-us/index on your browser. Avast's site will determine that your computer's operating system since it opens.

  2. Click DOWNLOAD FREE PROTECTION. It is a green button at the middle of the page. This may require you to the download page at which Avast will choose the right file to your PC. About Mac, the button will say"FREE DOWNLOAD" rather than Click on the "Download Now" button close to the top of the webpage.

  3. Wait patiently for Avast to Start downloading. Avast's installation file should download onto your pc after about five minutes on the downloading page. When the Avast download does not begin after 30 minutes or so, click on the restart it link at the center of the webpage to prompt it .

  4. Open the Avast installment document. Double-click that the Avast EXE file (Windows) or even the Avast DMG file (Mac). This may open the installation window. By default, downloads are located on your computer's"Downloads" folder.

  5. Follow the prompts to install Avast. This procedure varies based on if you've got a Windows or a Mac computer: About Windows: Just click"Yes" if prompted, and then click on the "INSTALL" button, and then click on"CONTINUE" double as soon as the setup is complete. About Mac: Double-click that the"Avast Security" box , click"Continue" double, and click on"Agree" if prompted. Click on"Continue" again and then enter your admin password (if prompted) then click"Install Software". You might have to validate the setup before it's possible to complete installing Avast. Open Avast. When Avast does not open immediately following installation double-click its icon in your Windows desktop. As an alternative, you may click on the Start menu and then type avast to begin, then click on the"Avast Free Antivirus" program icon from the Start menu. About Mac, open a new Finder window, then click Proceed from the menu bar on very top and click Programs from drop-down menu. Then double-click on the"Avast" program.

  6. Click on the Position tab. It is from the upper-left corner of this Avast window.

  7. About Mac, click on the Scan tab .

  8. Click RUN SMART SCAN. This green switch will be at the center of this Avast window. Doing this will prompt Avast to start scanning your computer for viruses, malware, and other dangers. About Mac, click Start into the right of this"Complete System Scan" heading.

  9. Await the scan to finish. Provided that Avast scans your entire computer, the scan can take a few minutes to many hours. If Avast experiences any dangers, it is going to quarantine and/or eliminate them from the PC. After the scanning is finished, you may be certain that your computer doesn't have any malware. Avast will ask you to take followup measures after the scanning is complete. If this is so, follow the onscreen instructions to achieve that.
